As you probably already know by now, we are The Forges – working alongside a team of property developers, we’ve now channelled our passion for food and design into running Café Bars & Restaurants across Bristol.
We knew this was a huge project to take on, especially being our first, but when the opportunity arose to take over this venue, we knew we would find a way to make it work.
Our first venture is based in Staple Hill; a busy Bristol suburb with the community at its very heart. It’s a vibrant and busy area with a high street full of independent shops bursting with character, and residents who champion the location and all that it stands for.
Visiting Staple Hill and the surrounding areas, our team of Bristolians would often find ourselves searching for a nice lunch spot. Our Managing Director had half joked about opening somewhere, so when the pub came on the market it seemed too good to be true.
Taking on this project has been an exciting challenge and we’ve been working tirelessly to ensure that this venue provides a quality, fun, vibrant, family atmosphere serving delicious food surrounded by beautiful decor.
The name ‘The Forge & Fern’ came about for many different reasons - our love of the outdoors, the history of the building and the future of Staple Hill.
Previously a blacksmith’s many years ago, we wanted to keep this part of history rooted in the property as it transforms into something new – this is the Forge. With a living wall installed, a beautiful neighbouring Page Park, an onsite herb garden and rooftop bees came the Fern. We’re all about balancing the old and the new, keeping part of Staple Hill’s rich history at the centre as we grow with you into the future.
We really hope that The Forge & Fern joins a thriving community and supports the continued growth of Staple Hill.
The Forge & Fern is a Café Bar & Restaurant currently being renovated to serve specialist coffee, quality food & a curated drinks menu.
